The Queen Elizabeth 2 or QE2 is a retired Cunard cruise ship built by John Brown and co. In Scotland the
ship was launched on September 20, 1967. The ship served as a fast troopship in the Falklands War. From
1968- 2004 QE2 held as Cunard Flagship untl replaced by Queen Mary 2. In 2008 QE2 sailed on her "Final
Cunard Voyage" from Southamton to Dubai. QE2 arrived in Dubai on November 26 2008. She remains moored
at Port Rashid while she awaits her voyage to South Afirca as a floating hotel for the Fifa World Cup 2010. On
January, 26 2010 Nakheel annouced that QE2 will not be brought to Cape Town. She was visited by QM2 on January
26 and QE2 remains moored a few feet away from the new Dubai Cruise Terminal where Costa Delizosa was christed at
Port Rashid. Now there is a idea to send QE2 to Fremantle, Australia for use as a hotel. Although a Dubai Spokeswomen said that the ship will likely not leave Dubai.
In Fall 2010, It has been reported that 4 tugs had assisted QE2 to a new spot in inner Port Rashid. Today she still sits at Port Rashid.
Also in January 2011, A heavy dust storm broke QE2's Mooring, but she was assisted by 4 tugs and was pulled back to her berth.
